I have tried different cards and different switches.

Now I am trying to force 100mhz full duplex instead of auto negotiation.
Hasn't hung yet!!!

I once had a NIC that would bail out on me after a certain throughput.
It turned out to be a bad capacitor on the card that was leaking.
I also had an issue where my external nic would stop responding, just as
you stated.
I would have to restart the server often. It wasn't a big problem
because the server had a bad drive and was rebooting itself.
A new drive with a subsequent formatting seemed to have solved the
issues (knocking on wood).

Subject: [isalist] Network card hangs

http://www.ISAserver.org

Happy New Year to all....

I have had an intermittent problem on my ISA Server for the last six
months.

About once a week my internal network card just hangs. There are no
errors or any other indication that anything is wrong. If I disable it
and reenable it, everything is fine. The only way I find out is the
folks here can't surf...so they bitch!

I have replaced the card with something completely different to no
avail.

Anybody ever seen this????

TIA
joe
