As Mark says...definately not on a DC.

If you need to have it on a DC then buy SBS 2003 Premiun. It's the only
type of DC that it will run on correctly due to the many many months of
R&D that the SBS team put into it.

Subject: [isalist] ISA Server 2004 on Windows Server 2003 domain
controller

http://www.ISAserver.org

I have a problem with ISA Server 2004 SP1 running on Windows Server 2003
SP1 domain controller.

the following steps are done:
- install Windows Server 2003 SP1
- run dcpromo successfully
- install ISA Server 2004 successfully
- install ISA Server 2004 SP1 successfully

Now the ISA Server seems to run ans work OK, but monitoring and change
configuration failed.
In Monitoring-Alert is see three successfully events
- The ISA Server Job Scheduler service was started successfully.
- Firewall service started.
- The ISA Server Control service started.

But in Monitoring-Services is see in the line "Microsoft Firewall":
Status running, Service uptime: a red cross-symbol followed by 4 times
"?"

If I try to start query in Monitoring-Logging i get a message box with
"The query stopped because an error occured while it was running".

In Firewall-Policy:
If i try to change a rule and click to "Apply" i get a message box with
"The configuration changes were saved to storage, but at least one
service failed to load these changes. The event log may include
additional information on possible reasons for failure.
The changes are not active. Only, if i restart the service "Microsoft
Firewall" the changes are active.

In the system event logs there are on entries about problems with ISA
Server or Firewall services.

On other Windows Server 2003 i don't have these problem, but this is the
first server, which provide Active Directory and ISA Server on the same
system.
On a Small Business Server this combination is running, i think.

Question:
How i can solve this problem so i can use ISA Server 2004 on a Windows
Server 2004 AD-controller?

Regards, Frank Pusch
