I would stop all access from his pc and have it virus checked, trojan
checked and spyware checked.

Have you checked the server logs for this? Is Auditing turned on in your
GPO?

The only other time I have seen this is when a trojan was involved with
dameware.

Well, unless he's had his pc in work and directly connected to your
network, the dns entry is being picked up from his pc. Is he using a 10
subnet at home??

But....his service through no-ip is listed as say johnsHome.no-ip.com
but we see an entry similar that is johnny-home.no-ip.com. Also his ISP
gives him a 142.163.X.X DHCP address. Is this still the case?

Thanks Steve.

That's the IP he gets from his ISP....then he connects to your vpn,
therefore his IP is registered in your DNS. Tell him to turn of register
this connection in DNS on his NIC tcp/ip properties and it'll go away.

Hi all,

Weird things I have noticed lately. An employee with us use no-ip.com
for dynamic DNS on their home machine...thus their name is for example
myhome.no-ip.com. I have noticed that on our network the other day that
there seems to be an entry for my-home.no-ip.com registered to 10.0.0.X.
but I can't ping 10.0.0.X This hostname is slightly different as it
contains a - . I checked with the employee and he says he has not
installed anything on our network. I have check our DNS servers for
this entry but cannot find it.

What is happening here???

The haggis is unusual in that it is neither consistently nocturnal nor
diurnal, but instead is active at dawn and dusk (crepuscular), with
occasional forays forth during the day and night.
