Can you surf normally from the Exch server? Does it resolve names at
all? What happens if you try to do an nslookup on various names?
Also, the packet filters in ISA are usually there to allow computers to
talk to the ISA server, and allow the ISA server to talk to other
computers - and don't really have any baring on whether or not a packet
gets forwarded thru the ISA server.

Can anyone help please?

We are implementing Exch 2000 and ISA and have the problem that the Exch
server can not resolve the name of the smarthost server (ISP) through
ISA
server. They are both on diff servers. The name can be resolved on the
ISA server but not Exch server? The Exch server is set to point to
External DNS servers of the ISP and also has the ISA server internal
card
set as it's default gateway. I've also set a port 53/TCP allow filter
on
ISA but no joy.

Any suggestions please?

TIA
