Example: I have FWC installed on my laptop, which is a domain member.
If I use it on the LAN, it detects the ISA server and modifies the IE settings
w/proxy entries.
If I use it on my home Internet connection, it does not detect the ISA server,
so it removes the proxy settings.
If I connect from home via VPN it detects the ISA server, and modifies the IE
settings again.

Yes but that works just for LANs, won't work for VPN connection. I didn't
include VPN on my original question, but I'm considering VPN as part of my LAN.

for my laptop users to detect if they are connected to my network or at home
and set proxy preferences in IE accordingly.
