Whenever you boot your computer, or login, or when a certain number of
hours have passed (I think 6), or do it manually, it does an update.

When the FWC detects an ISA server, it sets your IE settings to whatever
you set on the ISA server. When the FWC does NOT detect an ISA server,
it resets the IE settings to the default settings. Tried and tested,
several times a day...

In fact, if I disable the proxy settings (while connected to the ISA
server), then exit and re-enter IE, the settings are replaced. So yes,
it is pseudo-dynamic updating IE. Some limitations, but it works.

It does this during installation or if the user says "update"; no other
time.

Sure it does... The settings are pushed out from the ISA server, and if
it isn't detected it uses the default settings of IE instead.

The FWC won't dynamically change the IE settings, tho.
You also need IE to be configured for auto-detect.

The Firewall Client will do this for you if you have it installed.

Subject: [isalist] Detect when in the LAN or at home

Hello Isalist

Sorry if this question is kind of stupid, but I'm wondering if there is
a way for my laptop users to detect if they are connected to my network
or at home and set proxy preferences in IE accordingly.

Thanks

Regards

Diego R. Pietruszka
