I'm guessing this would mostly be applicable to people who are
drive-by
posting and not people who intend to actually drop anchor in the
list(s). Surely once they have been around for a few weeks and been a
part of a few threads, they will start to see the value in stuff like
thread-sanity etc.
(sigh) that used to be the case before the advent of gmail - gmail
specialises in 'You Do Not See What You Get', so most gmail users are
not subject to many of the annoyances we face - for example if a guy
does not trim his post, gmail hides it - so no gmail user gets to see
the untrimmed part. In fact I am working on a thesis to show that one
cannot use gmail for a prolonged period of time without significant
brain damage.
