Dear friends: would appreciate help for the following query from Ms.
Udya Abhraham .
I have successfully installed bioperl in linux and i also did couple
of programs .But when i did a particular program for retrieving
sequence from swissprot database, by giving the corresponding
accession number in my program(given below), its showing an error
saying cannot connect to database.
use Bio::Perl;
$seq_object = get_sequence ('swiss',"LCN10_HUMAN");
write_sequence (">lcn10.fasta",'fasta',$seq_object);
It may sound a bit silly, but just a small doubt - get_sequence() and
write_sequence() are both defined methods, right ?
When we call function, should it be function(arg1) or is this allowed -
function (arg1), i.e. a space between function_name and the braces ( ) ?
If am right it should be,
use Bio::Perl;
$seq_object = get_sequence('swiss',"LCN10_HUMAN");
write_sequence(">lcn10.fasta",'fasta',$seq_object);
Has Uday made a syntax error or is it right that way too (may be it went
wrong when she copied/typed it in mail's text area ?)
