[Ilugc] How to install LAMP packages via tar.gz in CentOS-4.4 !

Hi All.
  I've installed LAMP packages via tar ball under /usr/local directory.
Apache, MySQL, PHP running well in console also i've configured database
admin tool under /usr/local/apache2/htdocs/phpMyAdmin. I tried to open in
the browser by pointing http://localhost/phpMyAdmin/index.php. it showing
this bugs ( #1251 - Client does not support authentication protocol
requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client ). And my versions are
Apache-2.2.2, MySQL-5.0.22, PHP-4.4.4 & phpMyAdmin-2.7.0-pl2.

can any one suggest me how to over come with the admin tool issues !
