hai friends....
iam a newbie in linux using FC5...i dont know how to add/remove prorams
using CD...actually FC5 connects to the net to upadate packages..
Eh ?! When did Fedora Core started updating from the net rather than its
4 CDs?? Please, can you post briefly what you did actually ?
actually i referred
www.fedoraforum.org
www.linuxforums.org
www.linuxquestions.org
i can't find a straight explanation to dis problem..
Hmm, a little googling did help me out. This is a known issue with FC5.
Here is the solution -->
http://arindamlahiri.wordpress.com/2006/05/12/problems-faced-in-fedora-core-5-for-adding-and-removing-software/
I think ,This is not the exact solution. It can be trated as creating a yum
repository with ISO image or DVD " For more info u may read this link also
http://www.city-fan.org/tips/YumRepoFromImages
But all you need to dump your CD or DVD image in ur harddisk.[ Well don't
say that buy 120GB harddisk, i have only 40 GB [i am a poor
person]]............:-)
I would like to know, is there any application or Add/Remove software in FC5
can do as YaST [
http://en.opensuse.org/YaST] is doing with SUSE or
something like that?
...We just need to search the program name in YaST[in one module],YaST will
search the packages from list of CD(It depends on the configuration of the
your Installlation source. U need to just deselct the all other network
source]. YaST resolves the dependencies and just ask for the particular
CD...I don't need to dump 5 FC5 CD with my box...
I think mahesh is asking this things and me also. Beacause i don't have
internet at my home system. And franckly speaking why FC5 removed this
feature as it was with FC4.
i am thinking why should we not start a project which i can offer mixed
power of yaST[Installtion module and yum [ But i don't know of these
application programming python,qt, etc..].........
Ii am planning to move with Ubutu or Debian....
Thanks
