IMO, ZFS has far outclassed every other file system in
existence today. ZFS excels in features, data protection,
scalability, and manageability.
Note that ZFS checksums every byte of data on disk, and
verifies it on every disk read/write. Inspite of this
overhead, it still blows BSD UFS out of the water in the
above benchmarks and is second best only to reiser4.
Impressive.
Given sufficient interest, at the next lug meet, I can run
through the ZFS design, features, comparison with existing
filesystems, and a hands on demo.
