IBM x3400 has configuration as below,
Quad core intel xeon 2.33 GHZ, 2*6 MB L2 Cache (5410), 13336 MHZ
FSB, 4* 1GB PC2-5300 667 MHZ memory, 2*146 GB 15k rpm SAS HDD, RAID 1.
Further we connected one IDE 160 GB HDD also. Because we do two
copies of data backup. One is in this internal HDD and another one is in
external storage.
Hope desktop (Atom processor, 1 GB RAM,HDD, windows 7 starter) is
available for the cost of Rs.11000 approximately.If so, our plan is, buy 15
desktops. It will be increased as 30 step by step.Here not able to decide
about server whether its existing old server or new server. Hence for the
last four years, there is no issue with this IBM x3400 server.
This server resource(CPU,RAM & virtual mem) usage is not exceeding
60% when all users use fully.
Before we adopted with this thinclient concept, we had used
desktops. By considering centralization, we implemented
thinclients. Thinclients are fully comfortable except this slow issue which
we are not able to isolate. When its compared with desktops, thinclients
are very easy for us to manage. We are searching for clue to identify
bottle necks.
