Further including a source code browser/indexer like cvsweb/lxr
will make it trivial for beginners access the source code using a
familiar web browser. This works even better if it's pre-configured
and works out of the box on the FOSS server.

sure, and I kept wondering how I have missed out lxr, fxr so far, and surely
this would help the beginners to access the source code using a web interface.
(Now, really got the answer for the students who ask, "how can I see the kernel
source code Sir")
I have downloaded lxs-0.9.6 and let me try myself and when I am in need of help,
will get back to you.
