Hello,
I appreciate the efforts of everyone who tries to set up a
software business given the way in which the entire expectation of
manufacturers, users and the public is skewed by the way in which this
has been done over the last 20 years or so. However, corrections are
required!

That is not what the GPLv2 says. Quoting from section 3.

(Emphasis provided by me.) This is why the customisation provided by
RedHat (which is extensive!) is available to the people who
distribute CentOS --- all that is not available is the branding.
