Try this as root:
>modprobe usb-storage
Nothing happened. Control returned to prompt
modprobe sd-mod
FATAL: sd storage not found
and then plug in your USB device.
nothing happened.
How can I mount/unmount my USB drives manually?
When I chose 'Turn off computer' after some messages, it says 'Will now
halt' and stays there. My box won't shutdown.
The same happens with init 0. However, restart works perfectly.
