although this will work its generally not advisable to do such things.
When you remove this package dpkg will remove only the files listed in
/var/lib/dpkg/info/<package>.list. so if you delete an entry from this
file, it wont remove this file. The proper way of doing this is:
$ dpkg -i --force-overwrite <file>.deb
