Two responses:
1. Keep your OT volume low:
Unlike this recent animosity, in the past, this list has
been fairly tolerant towards OT discussions. Only when the
OT volume has gone too high has it been discouraged.
2. If you want others to tolerate you, you must first
learn to tolerate others:
Like how Unix is all you care about, there are people here
who only care about Linux. If you create your post with
this understanding, and take care not to offend these guys,
you can almost get away with anything.
Your wild statements -- academic projects are bad, Tanenbaum
is a loser, OpenBSD/Debian have silly ideologies -- are all
insensitive, offensive and hurtful remarks. Those who are
associated with these people/projects will feel assaulted
and hit back.
The real damage is that you will lose all credibility with
those who matter.
b) I do not think it will be a good idea to divide this list further down
into kernel list, hw list, bsd list, linux list etc...
Yes. And that's why we have only one list.

PS: Please stop using a 10 line signature. You've already
been told once. It's bad email etiquette. And your new one,
makes offensive and derogatory remarks about women.
Losing credibility with sensible people may be bad, but losing
your credibility with the ladies is even worse! :-S
