No, I already installed all the zlib and perl compression libraries via

ubuntu repository before installing via cpan repository. But none seems

Seems like you had spent time online, checking for such issues and possible
solutions. Then you might have also come across this[1] which clarifies
whats the issue with perl/zlib. And this[2].

I already came across the above.
I am able to compile Globus ToolKit 5.2.5 cleanly in the same environment.
But my requirement is to test with 4.0.x. As the GPT (Globus Packaging
Tool) requires perl compression libraries to compile (GT 4.0.x comes
bundled with few perl compression modules, and it does not look for the
perl compression modules installed in the OS).
I hope, if the gpt packaging tools uses the perl compression modules comes
with the OS, then it should compile cleanly.
Will the post the result if it works.
