Chris, I like to have my board outline a line so that I can give it a width. Two reasons for this: 1. It follows drafting standards for at least three different line widths for drawing objects. 2. I can use this width for my profile tolerance to see the real board outline. Also, you can use Z-copy to create your route keepin shape. There are tools available to make your board outline a continuous line. If you prefer a board outline as a shape you can use the built in tool in Allegro 15.2 for creating board outlines. See SETUP/OUTLINES in the menu. It will create your board outline as a shape and a keepin automatically. -----Original Message----- From: vince fornier [mailto:kerchunk@xxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Monday, February 21, 2005 2:51 PM To: icu-pcb-forum@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [PCB_FORUM] Ups/downs of board outline being an unfilled shape? I seek the wisdom of the group: Does anyone have their board outlines as unfilled shapes (with possible voids), as opposed to a giant LINE object ( and possible internal LINE objects)? I would think there'd be numerous advantages of having the outline as a shape , mainly the impossibility of creating a non-closed or discontinuous LINE. What say ye?
