Mitch,

take a look at the algroidf.pdf in the online doc. This document is
similar to the paper I presented at ICU 2003 and should answer
all questions you might have in view IDF, Allegro and Pro-E.

To answer your question, it can be done, BUT! ProE is somewhat limited in
exporting ECAD stuff. Create a 3D representation
in ProE of the shape you want to export and mark it as other_outline (see
paper). This will
import the shape into Allegro (>= 15.1) to a OtherOutline Subclass. You
then just z-copy the shape......

Hope this helps
Andy

[PCB_FORUM] Pro-E import of soldermask/solderpaste shapes.

Hi all,

Thought I'd run this thru ya before I search SL. How do you import things
like soldermask/solderpaste SHAPES into Allegro from Pro-E? Our shields
require soldermask openings and the solderpaste shapes for stensil
creation inside allegro. We want them as shapes (like they're drawn in
Pro-E. Now they come across as 2D lines though.) like the
PLACEMENT/KEEPOUTS come across, so we don't have to redraw them. Does
anyone know how that's done on the pro-e side?

Thanks in advance. Good day.
