The Design Reuse paper can be found at http://www.gcsd.harris.com/icu2004 <http://www.gcsd.harris.com/icu2004> . Looking at the constraint issue at a very high level, constraints will not flow up from the child to the parent unless they are implemented as net level properties in the schematic. There are ways to force this to happen using place holder properties on the schematic and back annotating the values. Version 15.5 should resolve most of these issues. As long as your are using net level properties, the inheritance should occur without issue. But have you clipped the constraint areas. Also, have you exported the constraints from CM and imported them into the module? There are just my thoughts, I have not applied them yet. I have done the following: 1, Read in the tec file from the existing board and imported it to the Module. 2, Read in the new tel file to the module. 3, Took existing (board I want to copy from) and exported the placement. 4, Read the placement into the module, that placed only the components I needed for the module. 5, Clipped all the traces, vias and fills from existing board from specific area. 6, Imported clip files to the module. Now I notice all the traces are missing properties. I am necking down inside fine pitch BGA's and I have a ton of trace width errors. Does anyone know how to import the net properties to my existing module? I tried reading in the netlist with properties but not sure this is the best way?
