Walter, (and Everyone),
Thanks for the suggestion. Draft 2 is attached.
I rearranged the changes a little because what we are talking about now are
more like rules than “possibilities”, so I think they are better if they are in
the
first paragraph in the “clock_times” section on pg. 229.
I changed your 2nd sentence a little, because we can’t say “all Rx AMI_GetWave”,
that would violate the rules described in the first paragraph which implies that
not all GetWave functions need to return valid clock times even if the model
generates them…

Questions, comments, suggestions welcome as usual.
Thanks,
Arpad

Subject: RE: BIRD draft to require clocked Rx AMI models to return clock times
Arpad,
I think the following is clearer.
“In the case of a receiver without a CDR, it is possible for only -1 to ever be
output during all AMI_GetWave calls.”
With:
“If an Rx AMI_GetWave only outputs -1 during all AMI_GetWave calls then the
model does not output clock times. It is recommended that all Rx AMI_GetWave
(except Redriver Rx models) output clock times. Any model that has the reserved
parameter Rx_Use_Clock_Input must output clock times.”
