Hey Allan,

Good question.
Currently any single player map can be played in multiplayer.
Any team defined in the map pack that does not have the no_turn flag on it shows up in the list of available player slots in the games pre start menu.

So a good example is to choose the "Defeating your dark side" map from the getting started maps as it has 2 teams nad is fairly matched.
One player chooses the good forces while the other chooses the evil forces.

Another example is to choose the simple fight map.
The player who takes the good forces slot will play the 5 interesting units while the player with the evil forces only gets a wolf, boar and goblin archer.
Not very evenly matched.

Right now if you make changes to the map files you can still create a game with your newly edited maps and others can join it.
The game magically sends your copy of the map to all other players.
This makes it easy for people to cheat, but also makes it easy for people to adjust a map and then quickly play test it with their friend by just hosting the game again. The one thing it doesn't do is send music and sounds, so if you want all the players to have a good experience they should all have the map pack folder with music and sounds.

So it's sort of in a state where people should only play with others they know. Down the road if we want leaderboards and want to stop anyone from cheating then we'll need to have server hosted maps, but this hinders map creators ability to make changes and quickly try them with a friend which is why it works the way it does right now.

It's still got a ways to go, but at least it's mostly working right now.
