So my question is, if there is a way to restore the behaviour of i3
in version 3 with version 4.
Do you have any *specific* behaviour elements in mind?

Yes: the default splitting was vertically. Second thing is moving a
horizontal splitted window:

- ----------------
| | 2 |
| | |
| 1 ---------
| | 3 |
| | |
- -----------------

When I moved window 3 to the left with mod+shift, it got be a part of
column 1:

- ----------------
| 1 | 2 |
| | |
-------| |
| 3 | |
| | |
--------------

I don't remember exactly, but if it's the right case, but I remember
the case, when a moving window got the whole width of the screen, and
wasn't a part of a column anymore. So I think in this case the window 3
would have the whole width of the screen, and window 1 and 2 are small
on the top.

Definitly the moving behaviour is different. In version 3 you were
always a part of existing columns.

Because I work almost with terminal windows of equal size, I want
always that column scheme so it isn't useful to break out of it if I
move a window.

Oli
