I'm going to play around with Knoppix on a computer or two. I have found SuSE (I have used 6.3 and now 7.3) to be the best distro for strange graphic controllers, and being cheap that's the only type I have. I have gotten it to run on just about everything I tried. Other distros don't even leave me with a usable graphics I have a feeling it's weak point is getting it to behave with some audio cards, probably RedHat or some other distro would do a better job with that, if I didn't think I also had to have steller audio, I wouldn't even bother with another distro. ---JIm On Sunday 12 January 2003 15:02, you wrote: > I run several (let's say; dozens!) of computers of > Intel, AMD, VIA, chipsets, so far (no PPC, SPARC's). > > I just installed Red Hat 8.0 on a Duron 1300 on a FIC > AZ11E board(maxed out for speed on the kt133 chipset). > (All cold turkey, new equipment!) > It runs great. > > Went over to wife's system, Athlon 1404 on a Chaintech > 7AJA2 board (clocked to 102/38mhz) and wiped off the > last half of the first drive, of Red Hat 7.3, to > install 8.0.
