I have a Third Variant (ca. '78) Detective Special I am not doing anything
with, if anyone is looking to play Dick Tracey.
KGL Yes, indeed, a nice looking specimen. Given the dates and the lack of an
under barrel ejection rod shroud, this one would be a 1st generation Dick
Special. I believe the other differences in the various generations (mine is a
3rd generation) comes mostly in the hammer design. It’s got nice looking
bluing and the wood grips look very clean as well. The Pachmayr grip insert is
an add-on, of course, which some people liked for Colt and S&W snubbies to fill
out the grip a bit. Given the prices I’ve seen lately for Dick Specials
I’d place it around $700 - $800. Erich ThalheimerINCE Board Certified

Subject: [hsa] dick special Easy Erich… A friends’ 1938 dick
special, was his father’s. I’ve never seen what looks to be a
Pachmeyer grip extension in front of the wood grips? Comments?
