KGL Someone posted this on NES. It was too good to not forward:I would
submit that home-made AR lowers are a fundamentally - and perhaps, today, the
sole - uniquely American art-form(1). Expressionistic, utilitarian, markedly
individualistic while having exacting specs, they possess a form that typifies
both the representational and abstract, combining an obviously architectural -
even neoclassical - linearity with the flowing curves of technical math,
underpinned in an extreme way by the Scholastic take on existential
quantification. Born of war, they are increasingly directed towards nature and
the unknown future by a mankind still yearning for freedom. They use
all-natural, gluten free, and - dare I say - vegan materials. An AR lower
expresses, simultaneously, the overarching conflicts of man vs. technology, vs.
self, vs. nature, and vs. society, without itself being in any way
disharmonized in the conflict. Of course, for you modernist and post-modern art
lovers, you should recognize that each one, today, is an act rebellious,
treading heavily on the absurdist path at the blurred edge of fictive
legislation and social pseudomores, standing athwart the groupthink of popular
reaction-formation and virtue signaling, remaining emotive and compelling while
itself being cold and unengaged. They challenge the viewer to recognize how
much they bring their own pre-conceived notions on what is, by any account,
merely a hunk of metal or plastic.
