Here are a few of my thoughts about the SRSL and internet broadcast.
To have some sort of guarantee for our FM broadcast I would suggest May next
year for the FM broadcast. I don’t think we want to go through the uncertainty
again and then ultimately give people bad news if we set the date now.
To give more time to get the internet solution to work, why don’t we look to
internet broadcast for 1 week (or 9 days Saturday to following Sunday night
like Carnival FM) at the end of May (around Whitsun bank holiday), plus 1 week
(or again 9 days Saturday to following Sunday night like Carnival FM) for
Hastings week in October. A whole 28 days will be difficult to sustain on a
system that we may not be familiar with and DJs may not be willing to attempt
without a a lot of practice.
In the meantime, just a reminder that from today our music licence is now valid
until the end of the year, so as long as we provide listener figures and tracks
played as a quarterly report, we can now legally play music and do it when we
choose. Jon, I will need this for July 1st for the first 3 months.

Good point, Andy (ref Carnival and Airbourne).
October has its attractions, but may still be ruled out for public health
reasons, so I'm tending to err on the cautious side like Sir Ralph, and think
FM may be better in May 2021.
BTW dear folks, I have been following the various threads with interest, but
haven't participated in any recently because I felt I had nothing constructive
to add which hadn't already been covered by others' posts.

I think August is out, due to Carnival FM, which I think Andy Knight is
planning to do, & of course Airbourne too.

Nick:
One thing I think we need to know right now is when they require an answer from
us as to when we want to reschedule the broadcast for. Is there a time limit
for letting them know.
Obviously the longer we can leave our decision, the better, within reason of
course.
As far as I can make out you just need to answer the email you were sent. Try
that & see what they say.

I’m reckoning, fingers crossed, that although this virus may still be around,
or a second wave of it, we will have got a handle on it by then and some
restrictions will have been lifted by August The country simply will not be
able to survive a financial lockdown much longer than that. That being said it
is of course conjecture. Although in my heart I say go for an August broadcast
my head is peering into 2021 for financial reasons. Only time will tell.

Indeed,
That’s the way I read it too Andy....
Point about re-arranging it for this year is: we simply don’t know when
movement and social distancing rules will be lifted, so we could set a date in
October... and then cross our fingers... or delay the fm till next year, and
limit the cost damage...
Cheers

The way I read that Nick is that we can postpone our broadcast for up to
one year, as long as we start the rearranged broadcast within a year.
That means, if I've read this correctly, that we could use this for a
broadcast next May, as we'd be starting on May 1st, instead of May 2nd this
year. So we get in with one day to spare.
Also there is now no fee payable for the postponement due to the current
crisis, which is good news.
Now we have to decide if we want to try & broadcast sometime this year
instead....

Hello Nicholas
Thank you for your email.
Yes, you can postpone your broadcast (The SRSL guidance note explains our
current policy on postponement (9.26). Under the current and extraordinary
circumstances we will not charge the postponement fee).
Please provide us with revised dates (which need to be within twelve months
of the original planned broadcast start date) as soon as you know what dates
you want to go with. As you know, we consider applications on a first-come,
first-served basis.
Regards
Andrea
