You are doing it the hard way. :)

Just uncheck the "Automatic alias" box under "URL path settings" before
submitting the page, and that should allow you to preserve the original
path.

I suspect this is a problem with the PathAuto module; I took a look at
it after the upgraded, but did not see any obvious difference in
configuration with the previous version of the website, so for now this
may be the only workaround.
