Hi NIels,
I've been doing some parts, but not as active as I want to be, but the more
the better, welcome noaccount! :)

I've added a number of Suggestions for the Dutch translation using
Pootle. I was wondering if there's review process (and if so, how it
works), and whether the contributions are more or less OK.
I'm hoping that by asking, I'm potentially able to prevent the Dutch
language maintainer many hours of sorrow. :-)
Amazingly, there seems to be no Dutch language manager!
There isn't even an "nl" entry at https://dev.haiku-os.org/wiki/i18n
which is where we keep info on the various translations and people can
maintain a "Terminology" list to address your concern on naming
conventions. There is a mailing list
https://www.freelists.org/archive/haiku-i18n-nl but nobody posted
since 2011...
I don't think there is any one other than me active on the translation.
I'll review the suggestions in Pootle and if they are at a good quality
level I have no issue granting direct permissions. After translating the UI
I guess we can take it from there.

Niels
