I can only comment on the last point. I've successfully used a GCC4 based 
build on a computer that uses the RTL8139, SATA and nVidia drivers. I've 
had no issues that were not also present in a GCC2 based system. I have 
switched back to GCC2, because WonderBrush could not use Translators, and 
since some other software I wanted to work on depends on liblayout and I 
didn't want to go all the way to porting that software to the Haiku layout 
system... yet.
