Good morning to all,
as discussed into the forum, it seems that it's difficult to find students
for GSoC (and other dev activities).
I'm involved in several academic activities with three italian universities
(I teach Social Network Analysis in small seminaries). Unfortunately, C++
is not the language of choice but maybe we can effectively recruit students
from there _and_ eventually mentoring some thesis works anyway (any ideas?).
Here we go (in parhentesis the courses I mentor)
- *Università Parthenope - Naples *- faculty: Statistics; languages used:
basic C, R (statistics for business management)
- Università degli Studi del Sannio - Benevento - faculty: Computer
Engineering; languages used: C, Java, asm x86 (System Programming;
Multithreaded Programming)
- *Università degli Studi di Salerno* - faculty: Electronic Engineering;
languages used: C, Java (Network Programming)
From the above, I'm currently teaching in Naples and Salerno. Thus, these
two are the most direct way to try something (for Sannio I need to relink;
lot of time passed from the last meet. But I can try).
Ofc there's some issue to solves before
- Lack of C++
- Nobody knows about Haiku there, both the brand and the software kits.
- We must sell our "product". U know, Profs need to know that they can gain
something from the initiative in terms of reputation and scientific
publications (those who want money were already excluded apriori)
