I find that rather annoying.
Liberapay is a platform where people can accept donations for their work.
Unlike other similar platforms, it is self-funded (you can donate to the people
maintaining the platform) rather than having fees on donations made through the
platform.
While it sounds like a nice way of funding open source developers (and I
created an account there as well), I agree that advertising this in commit
messages feels a bit out of place. I would rather have a forum/ML thread and/or
website page about it.
