It just goes to show how difficult it is for us to intervene in nature (to
the extent that we can call our yards "nature,") and get the results we
want. I think that poison is especially bad. But it's not only poison that
causes this problem. I set a rat trap in our yard inside a plywood box with
a small hole. I'd hoped that putting the trap in the box would prevent
other animals, such as squirrels, from messing with it. But I caught a
chipmunk.
