Hi Lynn, My mother use to give us every morning cod liver oil followed by a spoonful of malt. Didn't like the cod liver oil but loved the malt. I would like to hear more about your school days if you have the time. I have got more to come. This time about teachers. Hope your keeping well. love Malcolm. xxx. Hi Everyone, Its been great reading all your emails about the good old days and what food you used to be given to eat so I thought I'd just write and tell you a bit about what we had at school. I attended Lickey Grange School for the Blind which was situated just outside Birmingham from 1957 to 1969 and, when I first arrived, I found some of the meals very strange. For example, for tea, we were given a fried egg and a portion of crisps, no, not chips, crisps! I used to have the crisps on a butty and leave the egg as I didn't like it. We were also expected to eat Spam Fritters which I also didn't like and, in fact, there was not much in those days that I did enjoy about school meals. However, the most dreadful thing was, during the winter, we had to take a dose of cod liver oil each morning and all the infants and juniors would line up outside surgery to have a spoonful of this awful stuff. the awful thing was that we all took it from the same spoon, how gross is that? I could tell you lots more about the weird stuff we were given to eat but think that's about enough for now. If any of you went to the same school in those days, you will certainly know what I mean and, if you didn't, you were very lucky! Kind regards to you all, Lynn ----- No virus found in this message.
