If you simply reply to the e-mail, it will correctly post your response
in that thread. You can't trick the mailing list by using the same
subject. If you need to reference an old post, just include the URL in a
new e-mail so that the list members can quickly refer to the thread you
are talking about.

 

For instance I found the thread you are referring to, but it doesn't
look like Matt followed back up with the group (unless it was in another
thread):

Sorry, I'm a bit new to this concept on free lists.  I found the
original post via a Google search and only signed up today.  I hope I am

The original post was from October 2007 with the same name I used in the
subject of my mail.
