This would be an interesting thing to GP enable, but I have not seen it
anywhere. Frankly, the use case for this is probably pretty fringe-folks you
like your employer, Jerry, are likely to be one of the few that have enough
servers to make the process of enabling a role or feature en-masse
worthwhile via GP. But I think it would be an interesting use case.

There's supposed to be a command line version of the Server Manager MMC that
should allow you to add/remove stuff with a script. See the following link
for details. I've never messed with this although I've used sysocmgr in
2000/XP/2003 quite a bit.

Has anyone looked at controlling the installation state of "Windows
Features" with a Group Policy Object?

 

With W2K'Ocho', there are tools to pre-activate any of the available
'Features' prior to the base build of an image, but what about afterwards
and for many servers/client devices?
