Piano music uses a grand staff--two staves stacked one on top of the other,
with a short ledger line between.
Guitar music is written on a single staff, in treble clef, an octave higher
than it sounds. If you want an E4, then you'd write an E5.
Lime is used to write music in print. (Bill, please jump in if I'm sticking my
foot in it in a major way.) The music notation you enter shows up on your
computer screen on either a single or grand staff, as print music notation, so
sight dependent people can read it. It'll show up on your Braille display in
Braille music notation so YOU can read it, and JFW will speak the equivalent of
it as you move through it using your arrow keys e.g., E4 eighth note for fourth
octave E. You can print the file out to get an ink print hard copy or a .pdf
copy.
If you want Braille, you run the file through GoodFeel to translate the file
from print to Braille music notation.
.nif (n-I-f) and .xml files are file formats Lime can export to. This lets you
share notation with other music notation software that supports these file
types.
