BWAT, I have it on my watchlist. I'll do the auction,
but like I said this morning it will be very low tech. I'm not an
auctioneer, just trying to help out. Bernie.

Bernie, what say you? Will you be in charge of the auction? At
the registration table, Pam and I can do the paperwork like you
suggested. Then after the eating part of the picnic, you can do the
auction?
There are 15 people watching the
picnic website. I am not one of them, but do check it often. Which I
figure alot of people do. So, I think people will know about the
auction. It will all work out.
So, I guess Tim will raffle off his
battery charger to raise funds for next years MOGA event.
Again, we are all just trying to
work together in our busy schedules. Thanks for everyone's help.
Bridget

[GeoStL] Re: Picnic Auction
I think both is a good idea.
Yes it should have been talked about sooner but there is just to much
work to be done.
I think everything will work
out ok!
If Bernie would like to take
charge of the auction - that would be great!
Tim
- Tim, it should have been talked about all along.
How can we make money if the members don't even know about it. It
should have been posted on the event page since day one. Are you saying
you want the raffle rather than the auction or are you suggesting
both. Bernie

Bernie it wasn't
privileged information, it wasn't talked about until today. That is
since you brought it up a while back. The only thing I was planning on
was buying a battier charger and selling raffle tickets for it. I like
the idea of a auction but I think I would like to raffle off the
battery charger.
Tim
- Dan, it looks like 'they' have been or just
started planning on an auction, but it I guess it was privileged info
that I was not in on. I tried to get an auction going last year, but...
and tried again earlier this spring. After my email this morning it
looks like a tiny little note was posted by BWAT on the event page. I
guess the people that have all ready logged in on the event page
probably will not see the note. Bernie

Bernie,
I like the idea of an auction ..I am 90% sure we are
going to make it and if we do I will bring an ammo box with log book
and pencil as my donation. My wife's family has done this every year at
their family reunion and they usually raise enough to pay for the food
etc at the next reunion. Some how we need to get the idea out to
everyone coming though as not everyone is subscribed to this list
....maybe put a small blurb on the picnic page itself asking for
people's donations.
Good idea
Dan
- Are we still having the auction?
As we discussed before, it will put a few bucks into our kitty at
absolutely NO COST to us. I would be willing to take charge, but don't
expect too much. I have a very informal plan in mind. Lay your
donations on a specified table and have a "secretary" log the items in
or better yet, log it in yourself.. During the auction, the secretary
makes a note (on the sheet where the items were logged in) of who
purchased each item and for how much. After the auction is complete, we
collect our "winnings". Suggested time to hold this auction would be
right after we eat. If it's a go, bring any item (does not have to be
cache related) that you are willing to donate. Suggestions are: all
types of cache containers, items that could be placed into the cache
boxes, fishing and hiking items, advertising items or trinkets (bundled
up in to individual baggies). In short, anything that is collecting
dust around the house. These are only my thoughts and nothing is
gospel. Let me know what you think. Bernie the Happykraut.
