That would be the Greater St. Louis Area Council. Mike lives close by there
but, it might be a while before the approval comes through. I am the council
chair for Geocaching and I was told that they are going to redo the MB
Counselor approval process. In the past, a subject director would have been
chosen for a merit badge. Now, they will have subject directors for groups
of badges.

I actually wrote part of the MB requirements but Mary Stevens (Mousewiz)
wrote almost all of them. I reviewed and made suggestions.

I too am a Geocaching MB Counselor. I have several scouts coming to me in
the next week to get started on it.

Mike, if you want to get started on actively working with scouts, please do.
I will get your application for review and will approve it anyways so just
consider it a done deal!

:-)

Thanks Mike.

My classmate lives in Kirkwood I think. Would that be the same council as
you?

Zeke

Merit Badge Counselors are registered with the Local Council. They can
Help any Scout in the council. Another council would not recognize them am
as a counselor. Some counselors when registering opt to just take care of
Scouts in their troop. If they did sign a card for a Scout outside their
troop it would be OK but they are not listed on the MB Counselor list.

Hi Mike.

Can counselors help any scout or are they assigned to particular troops? Can
you put out a post when you get your confirmation so I can try to connect
you with my classmate?

Regards,

Zeke (ZLA)
