This is a real problem. I write libraries that are used in games and it
is even harder to find out if people are using them. I usually get feed
back when people think they have found and error or when someone has a
question about the license. Using google I can find out how many web
pages mention my libraries, which at least lets me know if people are
talking about my stuff. Aside from that I don't get any feed back at
all.

For other types of games I suggest having the game request a
"hidden" (no links to it) page on a web site every time they start up.
That way you get a simple count of the number of plays.

The main thing is that you have to market the hell out of your games.
You have to go on line wherever people are that play the kind of games
you write and talk about your game. Also, Just putting a link to your
web sites in you .signature file can get the work out slowly, but
constantly. It takes years to build up interest in a library, I suspect
the same thing is true of games.
