The database is Metakit, which is a set of libraries and not a full-blown database engine. Metakit is closer to Sqlite than MySQL or Postgresql. The Metakit libraries are "installed" in the Starkit virtual file system (TclVFS).

My understanding is Metakit is not exactly SQL either. Metakit has 2 or 3 interfaces. The commonly used API to the libraries is Mk4tcl. There are two OO interfaces Mk4t00 and Oomk. Apparently, Oomk exposes more of the underlying C++ API than mk4tcl. There is a new Metakit interface in development, Ratcl, which uses relational algebra to massage the data.

Mind-blowing network application tools are being developed in Tclkit/Starkit/Metakit.
