Hello,
I used to live one block off the beach in Long Beach, Mississippi. The
police won't let residents in there yet but I'm pretty sure my house is
now just a concrete slab. On the bright side none of my family or friends
was injured or killed so that is very important to us. I will be joining
in the relief effort soon to help get the plants in Mississippi, Alabama
and possibly Louisiana back up and running so people can get back to work.

I'm in Lake Charles, LA. Our city has taken in about 20,000 refuges from
New Orleans, many of which have been trapped in the Super Dome. All of our
shelters are filled as well as a rodeo coliseum. Hotels and motels are
taking in people rent free and our state parks and other RV parks have
waived fees as well. We're getting a lot of first hand horror stories. I'm
going to have to say that both the local and federal governments have
seriously failed these people.
