Alex when you introduce a V8 host and ATS stations to a 6.x node or nodes will you have to carry out a system wide reboot example existing 6.5.2 system requiring expansion add a V8 host ATS, CP270, FDSI leaving the existing node hosted by the 6.5.2AW will the 6.x stations communicate with the new 8.x stations before they are rebooted Shaun PS I am a FV user and DST is a pain our best work around is a script that kills the frozen FV's, the default will come back by itsself the operators manually restore the others -----Original Message----- From: foxboro-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:foxboro-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Johnson, Alex P (IPS) Sent: Monday, 19 September 2005 07:17 To: foxboro@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: [foxboro] Upcoming device integrators Stan, I hope you can come to the User's Group meeting because all of this will be discussed. However, I'll take a shot at it for you: 1) Our plan for device integration is to do it through an FBM. 2) The new FBM is known generically as an FDSI FBM. 3) There are two flavors: a) 10/100 Ethernet b) Serial: RS232/422/485; four channels; 115 Kbps per channel 4) Current drivers include: a) OPC DA b) Modbus Serial RTU (Master and Slave) c) Modbus TCP/IP d) TSAA (Triconex) 5) A-B support is a three step process: a) AB-DH using the KF/KE adapters - basically DI30 based ABGW (Sep) b) CSP ( control server protocol) is an Allen Bradley proprietary protocol that tunnels DF1 commands through Ethernet packets.=20 This was the original protocol on PLC5E and SLC/05 and has been supported in AW70 AB driver using RSLINX from AB. We will extend the current DH+ driver on FDSI to support CSP. We need this for Micro-I/A customers. (by Jun 06 if not sooner) c) Ethernet/IP - The latest from A-B; used with ControlLogix (after mid 2006) 6) The FDSI FBM works only with CP270s. 7) CP270s require a V8 system 8) Connection between an existing system and the V8 systems is through The Address Translation Station (ATS). So, the minimum equipment to add an FDSI is: 1) 1 pair of ATSs 2) 1 pair of Ethernet switches 3) 1 AW70 to host the ATS and other equipment=20 4) 1 CP270 (FCP270 or ZCP270) 5) 1 FDSI FBM 6) A variety of cables and baseplates Hope this helps. I'd like to confirm a few bits of the future plans on device integrator's. I believe that I've heard the plan is to do something like the=20 FB$224's. Theses new devices will basically come in 2 flavors serial=20 and Ethernet hardware wise, and will be supplied with various software drivers to speak various protocols. Seems like=20 the term for these is FDSI's, if I recall correctly. First, is my understanding of this correct? Next anyone know when=20 these (specifically for AB Ethernet) are planed to be available.=20 Third will these require a V8 system. If they will require a V8 system, what's the minimum change I would have to make to take a mixed V6 and V7 UNIX system (classic NodeBus)=20 and convert it to V8? --=20 U.S. Encouraged by Vietnam Vote - Officials Cite 83% Turnout Despite Vietcong Terror=20 - New York Times 9/3/1967 =20 =20 _______________________________________________________________________ This mailing list is neither sponsored nor endorsed by Invensys Process Systems (formerly The Foxboro Company).
