Thanks for the offer but that upgrade is years away. ;-( Can I boot up in Safe
Mode and toggle that "Start I/A at Boot" OFF so I can at least get into the
Windows environment and maybe accomplish something there? Never tried, does
WinNT have that feature?

From memory there is a blue screen with ........ but if booting to Windows it
moves on; if booting to I/A, this is where it crashes and restarts the boot
process. It's not the normal BSOD. Trust me, I have experienced that many,
many times with these old P93 boxes. ;-(
You have brought up some new issues that I have never been exposed to for the
past 4 years and about a dozen different P93s. You're scaring me... :-)

Hi Joe,
How far through the boot process does it go when I/A is enabled? I'm
guessing it's the BSOD!
Early NT days we had issues with the differences between running unicore and
multicore kernels, sometimes it was an option in the bios to turn off
multicore on newer hardware and making sure unicore kernel was selected
during the NT install. I don't think there was an option on the original
Foxboro GX240, however GX240s that were purchased locally could have
different motherboards and bios chips, worth checking.
It's also possible the bindings on the network card need "fixing", I'm
pretty sure at v6.4 you still have the option to re-run the network
install from the setup CD, it's in Other Functions and Bindings.
(distant memory sorry). You can try it on the backup drive, rather
than the production drive ;-)

I do not understand it but after some testing/swapping with different
equipment, I replaced the SCSI cable and can now boot into the Windows
world...
Side note: How the Hell can the SCSISelect Utility see, check and verify
the external hard drive with a bad cable, but will not boot up?
Next issue... I can now boot into the Windows world with 3 different hard
drives from previous backups and RAID1 drives from the Production P93, but
when I check the "Start I/A at Boot" and reboot, the system crashes and goes
into an continuous reboot/crash cycle. It does that on all of the 3
different drives...
Is there any hope? What is causing the continuous reboot/crash cycle for
the "Start I/A at Boot" selection only?
Thanks

Scott,
But I cannot get to the BIOS settings? The F2 and F12 keys do not work.
They did work initially on one of them but neither do now. Just thinking
that maybe the keyboard is bad, but the arrow keys always worked. I will
replace the keyboard on Monday...
We ordered these rebuilt from a vendor by P-code which does not include the
internal hard drive. I did not even look for one but if the problem
continues I will open them up and check for one...
Thanks for the BIOS Parameter Settings reference but from what I always
remember about these is that both Primary Drive 0 & 1 were always set for
OFF; we have SCSI so as shown, OFF for SCSI). If I can get back in the BIOS
Parameter Settings I will double check the other settings Monday...
Thanks again, you have given me a reason to show up for work on
Monday. :-)

Subject: [foxboro] P93 WinNT AW70 V6.4 with an external Winchester
RAID 1 drive
Folks,
I am trying to replace a P93 Dell box that has an external Winchester RAID 1
drive with another identical P93 Dell box.
- The boot process stalls at. Slot 01, Ch A, ID 0, LUN 0 (no size is
listed). It does not even get to the Winchester RAID 1 drive; from memory
that is the next line in the boot process. I have tried numerous times
using each of the RAID 1 drives individually, and with both installed.
- Initially I could boot into the Setup and Boot Menu configurations using
the F2 and F12 keys but after about a dozen attempts neither of them work
anymore.
- Also initially I could trigger the SCSISelect Utility using the <Ctrl><A>
keys but again that does not work anymore.
- When the SCSISelect Utility did work, I ran the Verify Test and it was
obvious the SCSI card could see the RAID drive(s) 17Gb.
- The Winchester RAID 1 drive passes diagnostics and indicates Ready.
- Based on a successful SCSISelect Utility test and a Winchester Ready
status I am guessing the SCSI interface is working properly but..
- Having no luck with the 1st P93 Dell box, I swapped it out with a 2nd P93
Dell box so it was now connected to the same Winchester RAID 1 drive.
- Unfortunately the 2nd one also stalls at. Slot 01, Ch A, ID 0, LUN 0.
Since Winchester RAID 1 drive and the SCSISelect Utility pass all tests, it
points back to the P93 Dell boxes as the culprit; but both with the same
problem? I am confused.
Any ideas/suggestions on why these P93 Dell boxes are stalling during the
boot process at. Slot 01, Ch A, ID 0, LUN 0 (no size is listed)?
Thanks
