Andreas,
Are you trying to determine how to get the current total number
of peer-to-peer connections active for a CP from the command line for
programmatic manipulations? If so, I am also interested in knowing how
to do that.
I do this by going into SMDH and selecting the CP of interest at
the "Domain" level and then:
Pick the "PERF" button at the bottom of the screen
Pick "SYSTEM MANAGEMENT COUNTERS"
Pick "TRANSPORT LAYER"
View "CURRENT # CONNECTIONS" at top left

I believe the value displayed there is the total number of
Peer-Peer connections both "SOURCE" and "SINK" and that is the only
place I know where you can get that value. Does anyone know how to grab
that value from a command line without entering SMDH?
I think I am right in saying that CP-30's and above can support
a total of 50 Peer-Peer connections but only a maximum of 30 can be
sourced, (sent from this CP to other CP's or requesting stations such as
AW's/WP's). I think a CP can "SINK", (request data from other
sources/CP's) from 20 other stations. I also believe that a "SINK" and
a "SOURCE" to/from the same station only counts as one Peer-to-Peer
connection but I am not positive about that.
This is a timely topic for us since we have a CP-60 that has
been running out of Peer-to-Peer "SOURCE" connections due to the fact
that it hosts a common utility in our plant that many other CP's, AW's,
and WP's constantly look at. When it runs out of resources the
following message appears on the DM message line:
"Communication Channel Unavailable"
It should be noted that we are running out of "SOURCE"
connections not TOTAL or SINK connections. We use /usr/fox/bin/rsom to
actually view the source and sink OM tables being held by the CP. Info
in the SINK tables are listed as "LOCAL" in rsom and one list can "SINK
data from many other stations. "SOURCE" data being sent from this CP to
other stations is indicated by "REMOTE" in rsom. Below shows how to
access rsom along with typical output. Hope some of this is helpful and
that someone else knows how to grab the System Monitor data.

Subject: [foxboro] Number of Peer-to-Peer Source Station Connections to
this CP

Hi List,

How can I request data about the value of the "Number of Peer-to-Peer
Source Station Connections to this CP"?

# omget ???

The "Number of Peer-to-Peer Sink Station Connections from this CP" is
measurable using
# omget $STATION"_STA:STATION.PP_TOT"

Regards,
Andreas
