Our solution (homemade solution) was much simpler : all systems outside the 
control system are time synched with the control system (IA 8.4.4). We don't 
really care about "the correct time", as long as all systems are on the same 
second... No GPS required ... All DCS stations are time synched to the same DCS 
server, as all other servers outside the DCS.

Dear List,
We have been struggling for many years with the inability of our IA system to 
keep in  sync with real time.  We seem to lose about 1 minute per month.  We 
are currently running IA 8.7.  this gets to be frustrating when trying to 
correlate events outside the control system with the control system.



The advice from Invensys has been that the only way to fix this is to add the 
GPS timekeeper function.  While this is not a herculean activity it just bugs 
me that my home PC can keep better time than our control system.



Anyone have a similar problem with other solutions?
