Subject: [foxboro] Foxboro Window Alarm Scanner Package (WASP)
To Bruce Gansner,
I would like to hear feedback about your experience installing,
configuring, and using WASP.
Was it the Windows Application Version? Yes, we are on Virtual Machines using
thin clients. Windows Server 2008.
Did you get it installed and operational as expected? It is certainly not as
simple as using Annunciator keyboards. There is a lot of configuration that
needs to be done. Most was done by Steve Johnson of Schneider and he has since
left the company.
Did it effectively replace your old hardware based Annunciator Panels? There is
no way to annunciate on the thin client so if you are using the embedded horn,
it will not work and you need external horns. Other than that screen call up is
as before. The annunciator lights are replaced by color coded configurable
buttons.
Was it what you and operators thought it would be and had hoped for? I did a
quick survey and all 4 of our consoles have at least one WASP visible and they
use them to quickly get to alarms.
Has it been reliable and easy to modify? There are scripts that can convert the
old AAtab files to WASP files, but they need to be massaged. There is a script
to check the tags to make sure ALMSTA is configured for the C:B. You need to be
careful with OM lists since WASP creates a bunch. If you have a CP(especially
CP60) and it is on many Workstations, it can cause Smurfing. We particularly
had trouble with a CP270 that is used to monitor temperatures throughout the
facility. These temperatures are on several displays in each workstation. So 16
workstations and each WASP created 7 lists. So additional 112 lists on top of
typical FoxView lists which exceeded 230 and started to Smurf
tags.Documentation says CP270 should be capable of 360 lists?
Thanks for any feedback.

We are in the midst of a project to replace the annunciation panels with WASP
which is FoxPanels but more configurable The idea is to have a touchscreen
dedicated to WASP for one touch display menu and alarm response Hope to be up
and running in January
