Ken,

I would expect the hard drive will needed to be formatted and named the
same as the drive that the backup was made from. I have not done it in a
long time, but since I believe it is a SCSI drive it should be relatively
easy as long your drive is at least as big as the one the back up was made
from. At the time I did it several years ago and once I drilled down to
the right format option, there was format name called something like SUN
9GB that was the same as what I needed at the time. There may be a way to
go to a larger formatted drive but it will a lot trickier, I think it is
something called the meta file or partition that can give you trouble.

The IDE drives are not so easily done - it seems you have to purchase exact
drives (i.e. have the exact drive names) that are recognized by Foxboro's
software install disks (or else you have to modify the install disk).

I seem to have run into a problem cloning an AW51E with backup tapes.
The clone crashes. Do I need exactly the same hard drive as the original
machine in order to load a backup tape set to a clone? If so, does
anyone have experience cloning systems with different hard drives?

Best Regards,
