Did you install the Symantec Client before or after the Service pack? Was there an antivirus program installed before the symantec? If so was it disabled when you installed the service pack? because that can cause some issues for sure. Also, if you go to the RUN command by clicking start, then "run", can you get to the event viewer to see whats filling it up? If you can't click start then try the windows flag key and R (flag key between cntrl and alt). Let me know.
